Reverend Carlyle Blake, CSsR

On June 17, 2012, Reverend Carlyle Blake, CSsR, an Ordained Redemptorist Priest from the US Virgin Islands attained the milestone of 50 years in the priesthood. T 7he members of St. Patrick Church as  well as Father Blake's family, parishioners, friends and well-wishers are extremely proud to  celebrate this milestone with him.
 
The Golden Jubilee  Celebration committee has planned the following activities to celebrate Rev. Blake's
dedication to the Redemptorist Order and the committed life of service as a shepherd of God's people.

                                                          SISTER LOUIS MARIE BRYAN         

Sister Louis Marie Bryan, 84, a Sister of Charity of Saint Elizabeth, died November 8, 2012 at Saint Anne Villa, Convent Station, NJ.

The wake for Sister Louis Marie Bryan will be held at Saint Anne Villa, Convent Station, New Jersey on Tuesday, November 13, 2012 from 2:00 to 5:30 p.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 6:00 p.m. Burial will be in Holy Family Cemetery, Convent Station, on Wednesday, November 14 at 10:00 a.m. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of S.J. Priola, Parsippany Funeral Service, Lake Hiawatha, NJ.

Sister Louis Marie was born in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands, the daughter of Arthur and Iza (Lanclos) Bryan. She entered the Sisters of Charity on August 20, 1957 and was a member for 55 years.

Sister Louis Marie graduated with an AB Degree in Sociology from Howard University College of Liberal Arts, Washington, DC; an MSW Degree and a DSW Degree in Social Casework from Columbia University, School of Social Work, New York, NY.

Sister Louis Marie was an educator who also served in the Social Services in New Jersey and the Virgin Islands. She served as an Instructor and Director of Upward Bound and EOF Project at the College of St. Elizabeth, Convent Station, NJ. Sister Louis Marie was a founding mother of the National Black Sisters Conference. She was a Social Worker and Director of Social Services in St. Mary’s Hospital Passaic. She served at Sts. Peter and Paul Parish, Virgin Islands as an Associate Pastor, Director of Family Life Apostolate, Diocesan Chancellor, Executive Director of Catholic Charities, and Adjunct Staff member, Chancery Office, St. Thomas, Virgin Islands.  Sister Louis Marie retired to St. Anne Villa, Convent Station, NJ in 2007, where she resided until her death.

She is survived by the Sisters of Charity; a brother Mario and his wife Angela; a sister Sheila Butler; and many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, it is requested that contributions be made to the Sisters of Charity Development Fund, P.O. Box 476, Convent Station, NJ, 07961-0476.

Red Ribbon Week

Students, staff, parents and friends of the St. Mary's Catholic School family culminated Red Ribbon Week with a Drug Free March in Christiansted. This march is done each year to symbolize the commitment of everyone in the St. Mary's Catholic School family  to remain drug free.

The red tape on some of  the Students' mouths, is marked with the word LIFE. These students symbolize the unborn, whose voices can not be heard.

Annual Jesus Explosion


A delegation of about 36 people from the Virgin Islands attended The Jesus Explosion  in Trinidad from 
July 20-22, 2012.
Twenty-one youth and eight leaders and chaperones from Our Lady of Mount Carmel on St. John attended. The other delegates included a young adult from St. Croix; one young adult, two children and three adults from St. Thomas.
The theme was “Strive to enter through the narrow gate” Luke 13:24.
               

65th Annual Cassi Hill Pilgrimage Procession


On Aug. 12, the annual Cassi Hill Pilgrimage procession was held from Four Winds Plaza to the shrine. A Mass followed the procession.

A gala dinner was held on Aug. 11 at Sugar Bay Beach Resort. The honorees were pastors of Holy Family. They were: Msgr. Jerome Feudjio, Fr. Jose Herrera, Fr. Brian Kiely, Fr. Simon Peter Opira, Fr. Neil Scantlebury and retired Bishop Elliott Thomas.
